Granite

This material is a popular option that is durable and tough, allowing the granite to stand up to impact and abrasive damage. Granite is resistant to heat, making it an ideal choice for the kitchen.

- Strong material, can last decades
- Available in a variety of colors and patterns
CONS:
- Premium price
- Must seal regularly
- Due to weight can be difficult to install
Marble
Another high-end kitchen countertop choice that is known for its aesthetic appeal is marble. Marble comes in a wide range of colors, each with a marble veining or naturally occurring pattern. Therefore if you are looking for a unique option marble may be for you. Marble holds up well against heat and is resistant to cracking, chipping, or breaking.

Quartz (Engineered Stone)

Solid-Surface Material

- Stain Resistant
- Seams are unnoticeable
- Available in a variety of color options and patterns
CONS:
- Moderately expensive
- Not heat resistant
- Vulnerable to scratches and dents
Quartzite
Quartzite is a natural stone that is becoming increasingly popular for kitchen countertops due to its unique combination of beauty and durability. CONS:
- Prone to Scratches. Although quartzite is strong and durable, it can be damaged by sharp objects like knives
- It’s Expensive. Despite being cheaper than marble, quartzite is still an expensive material for countertops, just like any natural stone
- Porous
Wood/Butcher Block
Wood/Butcher Block has long been used in homes for countertops for many years. Most wood countertops are made from maple, though oak, cherry, walnut, and teak are also used. Eco-friendly bamboo is gaining popularity
PROS:
- Durable, long-lasting material
- Environmentally friendly
- Attractive country-style appearance
CONS:
- Susceptible to moisture and stains
- Porous material is vulnerable to bacteria
- Must be oiled and sealed frequently
